"Oh..." (Pauses). "Looks like it's taking us through... Babylon"
Quote of the week explanation
Serving here in San Francisco, my companion and I have the responsibility to retrieve mail for all the missionaries of the zone every Thursday. While we were on the way to drop off mail for some of the other Elders, my companion looked at the map and let out a sort of apprehensive and almost confused "oh..." Suffice to say, the reason being was that we were about to pass through a part of town whose name I shall not utter here. Suffice to say, missionaries tend to avoid it because of some rather interesting things that you may see while passing through. Fortunately, we did not witness anything of that particular nature, but the decor on the street spoke for itself.
Greetings folks
It's been an interesting week getting acclimated to a new area, but because of the fact that we are still stuck inside (and will be, now, for another month) there's still not a whole lot to tell.
Currently we are covering three wards; two English wards and a Chinese branch. We received news that we will have some reassigned missionaries coming in starting on the 20th of this month, so I imagine the English wards will be whisked away from us pretty quick once that happens. We've been making lots of phone calls and stuff to meet members and people being taught, and have had some pretty smooth sailing overall.
Since we do have several responsibilities that involve driving around delivering stuff to missionaries, and of course are able to get out for daily walks, I've actually seen a little bit of the area. My last area in Clayton I saw a little bit of, but it's just a bunch of neighborhoods so there’s not much to see. Here in the city, you can actually look at things as you drive past (although as we've established, depending on where you are you may not want to).
I have been struggling to think of things to say in emails since this whole shelter in place thing reared its ugly head, so I may close it off with that one. So yeah. Sorry to disappoint you with the mediocrity of this letter, but hey... I'm not the first who is "not mighty in writing like unto speaking"
Ben
P.S. I had something written here but then decided against it.
P.P.S. I'll leave it up to your imagination what it was
P.P.P.S. How to make sock puppets
