"A,B,C,D...."

Quote of the week explanation:

Just yesterday, at our branch’s Fast and Testimony meeting, the Branch President's three-year-old kid wanted to get up and bear his testimony. This immediately posed a minor problem, because this particular child speaks only Cantonese and English, and there are a number of members in our branch who speak neither. So, our Branch President dutifully gets up to translate (and also to hold his kid up so he can actually reach the microphone). Anyway, when the child actually gets up to the pulpit, it becomes apparent that he is suffering from the all-too-common ailment known as "stage-fright". He doesn't say a word. So, our Branch President puts him down and takes this as an opportunity to himself say a few words. After his relatively brief testimony, I hear a mumbling coming from behind the pulpit, and our Branch President looks up and says that his son is now ready. Tension hangs in the air as he picks the kid up again. Everyone holding their breath, awaiting the wisdom that is about to pour forth from the mouth of a three-year-old. Aaaannnnddd..... He gets to scared again, and, again, doesn't say anything. But he did, after a moment, begin to sing the "ABC's", and therefore gave us the first weekly "quote of the week".

Hello.

(Leon) "Letts" get right into things.

We had some stuff happen this week, as I'm sure you could've inferred simply from the fact that I am writing a letter. (Although, in all honesty, even if absolutely nothing occurred in a given week, I would still probably write a letter for fear of the wrath of my Mother).

Therefore, if I may dive right in, I will now do so.

The temple open house concluded this weekend. We had two shifts, one on Tuesday and another on Friday, and both went really well. On Friday I saw someone who we invited whilst knocking doors, so that was pretty cool. We also literally have thousands of temple open house pass-along-cards left over, so no idea what we're going to do with those. The dedication will take place on June 16th, so still a few weeks away.

We had a minor miracle this Saturday. We had a member dinner... With one of our members, instead of those in the English ward! It was our branch president and his family. And then, another miracle... We had another one on Sunday! It was legitimately insane. Two member dinners with our branch. If I had the ability to shed a tear I would've wept.

We discovered the joys of tracting during the NBA finals this week. It was sure pleasant. Every other door: “Hey guys, I can't talk right now I'm watchin' the finals" (slams door). It's a good time. Every now and then someone will give us the time of day to at least tell us what the score is. We were pretty well informed for game one, but I didn't even realize that game two had happened yet until this morning, so it's not like we're super informed or anything, just enough to get by.

Another interesting thing that happened this week, we were out knocking doors, and we knock into one house that has a huge lemon tree in the front yard. Impressed, we decide to comment to the person on their spectacular tree. When we bring it up, they say that they never eat the lemons, and that we can have some if we really would like. So, we go up to their tree... And realize that these are some of the largest lemons that we have ever seen in our lives. Some of them seem to rival grapefruits in size. We took about eight, and then we made lemon bars the next day. It was great. The only downside is that the owners of the house weren't interested in what we had to say.

Well, anyhoo, I don't want to bore you with an overly long and droning letter. It's always better to be brief and to the point, as I say. Therefore, I shall now make an end. I bid you all a very fond farewell. Goodbye.

-Benny

P.S. I am rather hungry right now.

P.P.S. yes.
